The A’chik Organisation for Social Welfare (AOSW) has appealed to the authorities to clarify whether wages under MGNREGS are paid to zero balance Post Office bank accounts or not.
The wages under MGNREGS are supposed to be paid to the workers through their respective Block Development Officers (BDOs), the AOSW said in a release today, but many in Garo Hills have yet to receive them even though the work is complete.
These workers, the AOSW claimed, were told by the BDOs that the money is routed through the Post Office but the latter reportedly told them that that money is not for MGNREGS specifically, which has caused confusion and suspicion in the minds of the workers.
