Child Friendly Shillong (CFC) organised a one day annual children’s convention yesterday to celebrate the initiatives and efforts of various child rights clubs from different localities and villages.
The programme started with a prayer by Rev Fr Joby Joseph, the Vice-Principal of St Anthony’s College, followed by a motivational speech by lamonlang Syiem, Chairperson of the Meghalaya State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, congratulating them for the actions that they have taken in their capacities and for being vocal on children’s rights.
The main idea behind the convention is to bring all the child rights club members together and share with each other the initiatives they have taken in their areas to improve the situation of children.
The program also felicitated different child rights clubs, adult groups and individuals from different parts of Shillong for their work towards protecting and helping children to achieve their rights. Children also showcased their talents by performing dances, skits and songs.
