Shillong, Mar 25: The Aananda Foundation has announced financial grants to support persons or organisations working for upliftment of people with disabilities.
The family foundation, which is Guwahati based, was introduced by siblings, Dr. Gautam Rajkhowa and Prof Priyam Goswami in a press meet here today.
The foundation was created in memory of their parents, one of whom was a person with disabilities. They said that they hoped that the grants, though small, would help people silently working for children with disabilities. They want to spread their reach all over the north eastern states, hoping to get more applicants from the rural areas.
“In the Northeast there are many individuals and small organisations working with disabled children. Our driving force is we’d like to recognize and support such people to carry on their work,” Rajkhowa said.
The foundation is also looking forward to creating enabling communities and networks that are committed to advancing the rights and development of children with disabilities.
The mode of applying is through direct contact through phone or email.
