Shillong, Aug 1: A new self-help group outlet was inaugurated today by South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Hema Nayak.
With the support of the Meghalaya State Rural Livelihood Society (MSRLS), the Sulguri Maa Santoshi SHG under Betasing block received seed capital of Rs 4 lakh under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme. This financial assistance enabled the group to expand its food processing activities and improve production quality, packaging, marketing and showcasing in the outlet.
It is hoped that the outlet will serve as a vital platform for rural women to access local markets, improve their livelihoods and gain economic independence.
