Shillong, Jul 27: The Ampati Dealers Association has written to the authorities in South West Garo Hills to protest against the fee of Rs 1,000 for “weighing machine renewal” charged by the Legal Metrology Office.
As fair price shop (FPS) dealers, they should be exempt from the charge as their shops serve the public with basic rations and are not commercial in nature.
“The demand for Rs 1,000 for weighing machine renewal is unfair and causes financial burden to FPS dealers who are serving the public welfare,” the letter said. “We are operating under government orders and not as private traders.”
