Health and Family Welfare Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh today inaugurated the new building of the Mawkdok Health and Wellness Centre.
Gavin M Mylliem, the local MLA, was also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Lyngdoh said that the state government is committed to work for the betterment of the villagers and has set up small health centres to look after a small population.
The government has also empowered the dorbar shnong to look after these health centres as villages showed themselves capable of catering to the challenges of the health sector during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The minister also informed that the government has decided that all the sub-centres, or health and wellness centres, will be looked after by the village administration. She further urged the villagers to link their Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) cards with their Aadhaar numbers to avail all the benefits of the scheme.
The newly inaugurated building was designed according to the Indian Health Service (IHS) standards Type B model, and is equipped to conduct deliveries at the sub-centre level. It also has a labour room and a dedicated newborn care corner. The Mawkdok centre not only serves as a hub for essential healthcare but also supports the National Health Mission’s programme.
