The All Meghalaya Minority Students’ Union (AMMSU) has complained to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Meghalaya after it found one person applying for residency with alleged fake documents.
According to AMMSU, Mostafa Ahmed applied for a voter ID in Meghalaya using fake documents purportedly for the Mahendraganj constituency under South West Garo Hills.
“He is not a bona fide citizen of Meghalaya and his name does not even figure in the NRC (National Register of Citizens in Assam). Whatever document he has submitted is fake, as the address he has given for his EPIC belongs to someone else,” said AMMSU President, Nur Islam.
The NGO has sought for an impartial inquiry into the matter while asking for action to be taken against Ahmed if the inquiry proved the allegations against him to be true.
