The visit of Home Minister Amit Shah to Shillong on January 23 has been confirmed today.
Official sources from the Centre said that Shah will arrive on January 23 to chair the 69th Plenary Session of North Eastern Council (NEC) here.
Shah in his capacity as Home Minister is the chairman of NEC. The two-day meeting would also be attended by Union DONER Minister and NEC vice chairman, Dr. Jitendra Singh.
Members of NEC, Governors and Chief Ministers of the eight North-East states, senior officials from the states and key ministries of the Government of India will also be present at the meeting.
Meanwhile, DONER Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh today held a meeting with senior officers of DONER Ministry and NEC in New Delhi to review the preparedness and modalities for the 69th Plenary Session of NEC at Shillong.
During the two-day session there will be presentations from DONER Ministry, NEC, state governments of the North East region as well as selected Central ministries on various developmental initiatives and future plans for the North East region.
The Plenary is expected to deliberate on the progress of ongoing projects, confirmation of the proceedings of the 68th Plenary meeting, outlays by Central ministries in the North East region and plans for the period beyond March 2021 during the term of the Fifteenth Finance Commission.
