The State Cabinet has approved the amendment to the Meghalaya Forest Regulations 1973 Act.
According to Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma the Act was not amended since it was formulated and passed and with many developments over the years, penalties and fees to be charged have to be looked into.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet has also approved the proposal to bring existing Public Schools and Pine Mount School under the administrative control of Directorate of School Education & Literacy (DSEL).
“At present, the entire school education system right from the elementary to the higher secondary stage in the State is under the administrative control of DSEL except for the three public schools and Pine Mount School, Shillong,” Sangma informed.
The Chief Minister said that in order to have a uniform developmental strategy of the entire school education system in Meghalaya, starting from elementary to Higher Secondary Stage, it is felt necessary to bring all the Public Schools and Pine Mount Schools under the administrative control of one Directorate i.e. Directorate of School Education and Literacy.
