NPP MDC, Albinush Raksam Marak is all set to lead the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) as the Chief Executive Member (CEM) by defeating AITC’s Dhormonath Ch Sangma.
Marak won the position by securing 17 votes during a special session held today in the district council hall, Tura. Sangma secured 12 votes.
The new CEM, representing Siju constituency in the GHADC, earlier held the post as deputy chairman when Rakesh A Sangma was the GHADC chairman. He later resigned before running for the CEM’s election.
It may be mentioned that Rakesh was elected as the CEM of the GHADC on January 31, until protest erupted in Garo Hills. He later resigned and paved way for Albinush.
