Team ‘AgriSense’ from East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, has secured a spot among the top 20 semi-finalists in Samsung India’s prestigious CSR programme, ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ 2024.
This year’s edition features 51 students from diverse regions across India, showcasing the country’s vast talent pool.
The top 20 teams, hailing from twelve states and two Union Territories, include participants from some of the most remote locations such as Imphal in Manipur and Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh.
The selected teams will now embark on a specially curated Innovation Walk at Samsung’s offices and R&D centres.
Focusing on themes like ‘Community and Inclusion’ and ‘Environment and Sustainability,’ the competition saw 20 per cent of school track ideas addressing education and digital literacy gaps, while 25 per cent of youth track ideas tackled water conservation and pollution issues. Other prominent themes included air pollution, waste management, and ecological balance.
“Samsung’s ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ empowers students to address real-world challenges using technology. We are thrilled with the diverse representation this year and look forward to seeing these ideas develop,” said S P Chun, Corporate Vice President, Samsung Southwest Asia.
The semi-finalists will receive grants for prototype development and Samsung devices, with winners receiving significant seed grants and support for further advancement.
First launched in the United States in 2010, ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ has engaged over 2.3 million young people in 63 countries, aligning with Samsung’s global CSR vision of empowering future leaders through education.
