The All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers’ Association (AGHSSASTA) has threatened agitation if the government fails to pay their four months pending salary before June 22.
The teachers, via the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, sent a reminder petition to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to expedite the release of the pending salaries, which they want cleared in one block.
“The SSA teachers have been bearing with the irregular payment for the past many years and submitted several memorandums to the concerned Education Minister but to no avail and that has resulted in great economic distress, especially concerning the payment of their children’s fees, etc,” president of the association, LG Momin, said.
The teachers further stated that it would not be possible for them to discharge their duties without receiving a salary.
