A day after State government decided to increase the tax on all brands of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in the State by 1-9 per cent to generate more revenues to the State, the government today announced a 3 per cent enhancement of Dearness Allowance (DA) for all categories of State government employees, pensioners and family pension holders.
As per the notification issued today, the DA has been enhanced from the existing rate of 22 per cent to 25 per cent with effect from July 1, 2021.
The new DA rate shall also apply to the members of the work-charged establishment and casual workers, other than bungalow peons, holding posts in the pay levels as admissible to the employees of corresponding categories under the regular establishment, services or posts.
The payment of DA as sanctioned shall be debited to the respective heads of accounts from which the employees draw their salary and the respective heads of accounts from which the pensioners or family pension holders draw their pension.
The notification also stated that payment on account of DA involving fractions of 50 paise and above should be rounded off to the next higher rupee and the fraction of less than 50 paise should be ignored.
However, payment of DA shall remain suspended if the pensioners and family pensioners are employed or re-employed under the State or Central government as also those pensioners and family pensioners employed, re-employed or permanently absorbed in the State or Central government’s company, corporation, undertaking or autonomous body.
It shall, however, be revived after the spell of such employment or re-employment.
