Meghalaya on Saturday recorded one Covid-related death after a gap of six days taking the tally to 111, since April.
The deceased was identified as Stanis Lyngdoh (62) of Mawlai Mawtawar. He was diagnosed with Covid Pneumonia with acute respiratory distress syndrome with brain infarct with herniation.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the patient was admitted in Shillong Civil Hospital on November 20 after he was tested positive for Covid on November 18 at Nazareth Hospital. However he died on November 28.
Dr. War also informed that the State recorded 71 new cases and 129 more persons recovered from the viral infection.
With this the number of active cases in the State is now 858 and the number of recovered cases stands at 10735.
The Director of Health Services informed that, East Khasi Hills recorded 53 new cases (armed/paramilitary force-three and others- 50), West Garo Hills nine, Ri-Bhoi three, West Jaiñtia Hills three, North Garo Hills two and West Khasi Hills one.
Of the 129 recovered cases East Khasi Hills registered 71 (armed /paramilitary force- 13 and others- 58), West Khasi Hills -23, South West Garo Hills 14 (armed/paramilitary force-one and others- 13), East Garo Hills – seven, West Garo Hills –six, North Garo Hills – three, Ri-Bhoi two (armed/paramilitary force- one and others- one), West Jaiñtia Hills – two, East Jaiñtia Hills – one.
Dr. War also informed that till Saturday afternoon a total of 2, 39, 176 samples were tested out of which 2, 27, 472 samples yielded negative results and a total of 64, 232 people entered the State from outside the State till date.
