Shillong, Feb 5:Meghalaya’s cabinet has approved a structured pay framework for ad hoc and SSA teachers.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma announced the decision following a cabinet meeting today, saying, “We have today approved the proposal for a structured pay framework, benefiting around 23,099 ad hoc and SSA teachers. This decision aims to provide job security and a structured salary package for these teachers.”
The framework is expected to benefit teachers who have been receiving grants-in-aid and will bring much-needed stability to their careers. The state government has been in discussions with teacher associations for six months and is working out the details of the new framework.
“We will be implementing the new structured pay framework by April 1, 2026,” Sangma said, adding that the annual impact on the state government will be approximately Rs 817 crore.
The government plans to finalise other aspects of the reform within the next 60 days, including restructuring within schools.
