Shillong, Mar 28: Social activist Greneth M Sangma has demanded the termination of an assistant teacher of the Bolsalgre Government LP School accusing her of misconduct, criminal antecedents, and violation of Meghalaya Service (Conduct) Rules.
In a letter to the Director, School Education and Literacy (DSEL), Greneth stated that the teacher who is under suspension, Jaynie N Sangma has consistently engaged in activities in direct violation of the rules, which is detrimental to the prestige of the education department.
According to Greneth, the teacher is also serving as the general secretary of Durama Imbama Norimbi Dikkimbi A’chik Ma’giparang (DINDAM).
Greneth highlighted Jaynie’s troubling history, revealing that an FIR was filed against her at Tura Police Station for criminal breach of trust and defamation. This follows her alleged act of recording a private conversation with Greneth and sharing it on social media—a move that he claims was aimed at damaging his reputation.
He also cited an incident in 2014, where Jaynie was arrested for the kidnapping and physical assault of young girls over an extended period. “Such a criminal background is entirely incompatible with the teaching profession, which requires a person of high moral character to guide young students,” he said.
Furthermore, the activist said her participation in a protest at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, is a clear attempt to defame the state. He also accused her of inciting communal hatred between the A’chik and Muslim communities.
“Her prolonged suspension for many years without reform proves she is unfit for public service. A government teacher is strictly prohibited from engaging in political agitations and spreading false, communal information that harms the administration,” he added.
