Shillong, Jan 23: Social activist Cherian G Momin has expressed concern that the proposed advertisement of vacant posts of teaching in West Garo Hills may not comply with the State Reservation (Roster) Policy.
According to Momin, several teaching posts are reportedly lying vacant in deficit higher secondary schools in the district, including multiple vacant posts in Jana Priya Higher Secondary School, Bholarbhita.
He said while government notifications and office orders clearly mandate the application of the reservation roster to all sanctioned posts in government-aided and deficit grant-in-aid educational institutions, except in cases where advertisements were issued prior to August 24, 2024, no such advertisement was issued before the cut-off date in respect of the vacant posts concerned.
Momin said that there might be attempts to bypass the Reservation Policy through back-dated orders or by issuing advertisements for single posts at different times. Such practices, if permitted, would defeat the principles of transparency, fairness, and equal opportunity in public recruitment, he added.
He urged concerned authorities to ensure that any advertisement or appointment to deficit higher secondary schools strictly adheres to the State Reservation Policy.
