The North Garo Hills zone of the A’chik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK) has written to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) to seek for an inspection of trading licences of non-tribal traders in the district.
The pressure group expressed suspicions that many of such non-tribal traders do not possess a requisite licence from the council.
Specifically, it called for a thorough verification of non-tribal trading licences in the Dainadubi area.
“This inspection will ensure compliance with the rules and safeguard the interests of the indigenous communities, as well as maintain fair trading practices,” ACHIK said.
