The delegation of ABVP, Meghalaya lead by State secretary Darilin Tang met the Vice Chancellor of NEHU Prof. S K Srivastava and submitted a memorandum regarding the various issues and the problem faced by the university students during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the memorandum, AVBP said that due to the global pandemic along with the impact on other sectors, the education sector is also hard hit by it.
“Many parents are facing financial crunch and were able to meet their daily expenses. In such a scenario, many institutes like NIT Silchar, Tezpur University etc had relieved their students by giving fee concession,” AVBP said.
It also demanded fee concession for the admission of the students in the next semester in NEHU.
ABVP also stated that many universities across the country have given the notification for the admission of postgraduate students whereas in NEHU the notification is yet to be released.
“Whether the admission for the postgraduate students in NEHU will be based on merit or on the entrance test is not yet clear to the students,” ABVP said.
The ABVP also said that the scheduled examination to be commenced by NEHU from next month for the final year students is already released but the notice for the backlogs for final year students who are to clear their previous semester backlogs is not yet notified.
