The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a right-wing student organisation, has “unanimously reelected” its state president and secretary for a second term, it was announced today.
An executive meeting of the Meghalaya ABVP was held today where discussions were held on the suggestions received from the various ABVP units in the state regarding the election of the president, secretary and other office bearers.
After the deliberations, Sashankutlang Khongthohrem and Tengku M Marak were reelected as president and secretary for a second term for 2023-24.
Khongthohrem is from Pynursla village, East Khasi Hills, and has done his MPhil and PhD in Political Science. He is the Principal of Ri-War College in Pynursla and also the Director of Ashorphi Academy Hr Secondary School. He has been active in the ABVP since 2009.
Marak hails from West Garo Hills. He has been an active ABVP worker since 2018. He is a student of Shillong Law College. He earlier held the responsibility of state joint secretary.
