The Meghalaya unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the right-wing student organisation affiliated to the Hindu nationalist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, held its fourth State Conference in Jowai on January 23.
In a press release today, the ABVP said that Prof Henry Lamin, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) was the chief guest. The event, which drew the presence of 92 delegates, saw Lekhi A Sangma re-elected as the Meghalaya President, while Nibiang Sumer was elected as the new state Secretary.
The conference also passed a resolution concerning the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 by Meghalaya and focused on some key education-related problems in the state, namely the lack of medical, engineering and other professional institutions.
