Shillong, Mar 29: The third edition of Culinary Cascade, a celebration of Meghalaya’s diverse culinary heritage, concluded at Ward’s Lake here.
The two-day event brought together food enthusiasts, chefs and innovators with discussions, live cooking demonstrations, product launches and hands-on experiences, attracting around 4,000 visitors.
Tourism Minister Timothy D Shira emphasised Meghalaya’s abundance of natural ingredients and the state’s commitment to promoting its cuisine globally.
A panel discussion on agricultural development and a book conversation with Madeline Tham explored the relationship between food and cultural identity, while Kitdorlang Kharpran presented an awareness session on mushroom cultivation and its economic potential.
The event showcased Meghalaya’s culinary innovation, with live cooking demonstrations by local chefs and performances by musical acts. The SEETI Table connected chefs and storytellers, highlighting the state’s culinary heritage.
Chief Secretary Shakil P Ahammed stated that the Culinary Cascade is a catalyst for advancing Meghalaya’s tourism and entrepreneurial ecosystem globally, while Tourism Director Brenda Pakyntein called it an event that celebrates the art of food and brings people together.
