Family of a 25-year-old Assam woman, Namrata Bora, killed in a road accident in Shangbangla, Ri Bhoi district have demanded a thorough inquiry into the incident on Friday.
A complaint was lodged today at the Dispur police station in Guwahati by her father demanding a probe into the incident.
Namrata, a resident of Kamargaon, Golaghat, Assam and five others were travelling in an Assam-registered Hyundai Alcazar (AS 01EV 9578) from Shillong towards Guwahati when the incident occurred at around 4:45am on June 4.
The driver, Md Ismail Hoque Choudhury (33), was attempting to overtake another vehicle when the Alcazar rammed into the back of a truck.
The incident occurred while the car was attempting to overtake another vehicle. The other passengers – Anyatul Watus (39), Gayatri Borah (25), Pragya Dihingia (29) and Meriganka Borah (26) – received injuries along with the driver.
According to PTI from Guwahati, Namrata’s father has been questioning the circumstances surrounding her death.
“I am in a very disturbed state of mind. My only plea is that she should get justice and I have full faith in the justice system. I request our chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to conduct a thorough inquiry,” he told reporters at his Golaghat residence after performing rituals in memory of Namrata.
Namrata, who worked in Guwahati, had purportedly gone on a drive towards Shillong with her friends in the early hours on Wednesday, but they decided to return midway.
