Meghalaya through its DREAM Mission is on the path to equip individuals recovering from substance abuse through skill-based empowerment as the first-ever vocation skills demonstration took off today at the New Hope De-addiction Cum Counselling Centre in Mawdiangdiang.
Major stakeholders involving institutions such as IIT, Don Bosco Technical School, Don Bosco Youth Centre, and Meghalaya Skill Development were part of the initiative to provide practical demonstrations, inspiring residents to explore diverse skill-based opportunities.
“This initiative aims to empower rehabilitated youths by providing them with essential skills, helping them reintegrate into society and become self-reliant,” DREAM Mission Director Francis Kharshiing said.
The stakeholders are responsible to design courses, develop infrastructure, and provide resource support to the individuals.
One of the recovered addicts said such initiatives will help individuals like him to rebuild their lives and stand on their own feet.
It may be mentioned that the Drug Reduction, Elimination, & Action Mission (DREAM), is the State government’s commitment to ending drug menace and supporting youth in overcoming addiction.
