The Ri Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF) today provided assistance to victims of a fire in Sohkyrbam village by distributing tin roofing sheets and rice.
This gesture followed an inferno last Saturday that engulfed a house, leaving the family devastated. The Thangkhiew family lost all their belongings in the blaze. RBYF western zone president Rishan Nongtri visited the affected family and voiced concern that there were inadequate fire services in Western Ri-Bhoi.
He urged the local MLA and the government to establish a fire service station at Patharkhmah to ensure prompt action in future emergencies.
