A training programme on “Rural Tourism & Socio-Economic Development” was conducted by the Minot Multi-Function Society for the secondary students of Peniel English School, Laitkroh today.
The programme was sponsored by the Government of Meghalaya under the Chief Minister Youth Development Fund 2022-2023.
Over 50 students of the school took part in the training programme aimed to make students aware on the importance of physical environment and a wide range of natural resources for promoting tourism of a particular area and how to tap these resources in order increase our livelihood.
The resource persons Kimberley C Langstieh, Assistant Professor, Department of Tourism and Travel Management, ICFAI University, Meghalaya spoke at length on rural tourism, its various resources and management and the importance of preserving our resources for sustainable tourism, which will not only benefit the current generation but the generations to come as well. She also gave an insightful presentation on Rural Tourism Services Management, which can provide employment and are a source of livelihood to the community.
The students actively participated during the programme and have expressed their happiness on receiving such training programme, which is very informative, educational and has given them knowledge on the various topics of Tourism Management.
Others who were present during the programme include teachers and staff of the English Peniel School and members of the society.
