There are more than 50 applicants for every vacancy in the Civil Defence and Home Guards Department’s current recruitment process.
There are 22,742 applicants for the 445 vacant posts, the minister in charge, Comingone Ymbon, informed today.
The recruitment process will go through the physical efficiency test (PET) from November 18 to 21.
The 445 vacancies comprise four Sub-Inspectors, 284 Guardsmen, 17 drivers and 140 non-combatant employees (NCEs) in Shillong and Tura.
Recalling that the PET had to be postponed earlier, Ymbon said that he received numerous complaints on the condition of the ground and, after personally visiting the ground and taking stock of the situation, it was decided that the PET would resume from November 18 to November 21.
He also informed that candidates who were scheduled to participate in the physical measurement test (PMT) and PET on October 4, 5, 7, and 8 and those who had qualified in the PMT and participated in the PET on October 2 and 3 will have to download new admit cards from the department’s official website (www.meghomeguards.gov.in) for their dates of participation.
