Ahead of the 78th Independence Day, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) organised a ‘Tiranga rally’ in the city today as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
CRPF personnel marched as they waved the tricolour and chanted slogans of unity and freedom during the rally, which began from the 67 Battalion campus towards the Chief Minister’s residence, State Convention Centre, Wards Lake and back to Polo.
The rally was flagged off by Commandant Sunil Kumar Savita in the presence of Second-in-Command Ajay Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar, Deputy Commandant Thanglenlal Misao, Assistant Commandant Kamal Kant, and others.
“The rally was carried out to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and to promote awareness about the Indian National Flag,” Savita said. He also added that the rally spreads a message of communal harmony and fraternity as well as establish a sense of confidence among the common people.
The Border Security Force (BSF), Meghalaya also launched the campaign by holding walkathons and rallies in and around campus areas and along the border.
The programmes aim to engage civilians, BSF personnel, and the local population to inspire everyone to hoist or display the national flag at their homes, government buildings, and prominent places such as schools and colleges, ensuring the success of the campaign. The events also aimed to instill a deep sense of patriotism among school children and the local community.
In addition to the walkathons, the campaign reached out to headmen, ex-BSF personnel, and villagers in respective areas, motivating them to hoist the national flag at their homes, community centres, and other public places.
