The Achik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) in Rongjeng has flagged irregularities in the appointment of a Hind teacher at the Nongchram Deficit UP School and urged the department to conduct fresh recruitment.
According to the organisation, there was injustice and favouritism applied in the appointment.
The issue was raised with the Directorate of School Education & Literacy in a letter to Director Swapnil Tembe.
AHAM said as per their investigation, it was revealed that the School Managing Committee (SMC) has indulged in unethical practices, bypassing eligible candidates and a person who lacks the requisite qualifications and documents was appointed for the post.
“The SMC has failed to receive applications from eligible candidates citing frivolous reasons such as the absence of education certificates,” AHAM president Jaksrik N Sangma said.
He pointed out that the Sub Divisional School Education Officer (SDSEO) of Williamnagar had approved the appointment even as the appointed candidate does not possess the mandatory MTET/CTET certificate as advertised. Further candidate’s election ID card reveals that he is 41 years old, making him ineligible for the post, Sangma added.
Further, the organisation said the appointed teacher was previously teaching at the Rongdu Dabit Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. His negligence was brought to the notice by AHAM with the SMC and despite several warnings he failed to take classes.
AHAM has urged the directorate to conduct fresh recruitment for the post by adhering to the advertised criteria and to ensure that all eligible candidates are given an equal opportunity to apply and compete.
