The Border Security Force (BSF) today detained three Bangladesh nationals suspected of being illegal migrants and two Indian citizens who were helping them cross into the country.
Mohibur Rehman (30), Kusus Miah (25) and a 16-year-old minor were picked up by BSF personnel in East Khasi Hills.
Acting on specific information, a BSF party stationed at Dangar Tri Junction stopped a Maruti Alto car and apprehended two Indian touts and the three Bangladeshi nationals.
On preliminary questioning, the apprehended Bangladeshi nationals claimed that they illegally entered Indian territory with the intention to go to Kashmir in search of jobs. The apprehended persons were handed over to Dangar police station for further legal formalities. The names of the two Indian citizens arrested were not provided in a BSF press release.
