Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today met six union ministers in New Delhi and sought their help for various development projects for Meghalaya.
During his meeting with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Sangma sought financial support for the Meghalaya Economic Growth Accelerator (MEGA) Corridor Project during the current Finance Commission period. Sangma said that the project is critical for the State’s economic development.
In another meeting with Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Choudhury, Sangma explained about the State government’s ambitious plan to establish Skill Parks in Shillong and Tura to provide comprehensive skill development for Meghalaya’s youth for their smooth transition from academics to employment.
The chief minister also met Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DONER) Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and sought funding support for infrastructure development projects in Meghalaya. He also urged Scindia to consider increasing the allocation of funds under the DONER Ministry to all North East states.
Sangma also met with Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal to seek continued support to push industrial growth in Meghalaya.
Further, as part of the sustained endeavour to promote data-driven governance, Sangma met Union Minister of Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw and apprised him of various technology-enabled services that are in the pipeline to ensure the effective public delivery of services in Meghalaya.
The chief minister also met Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan to apprise him on the progress of different education projects in Meghalaya and sought the minister’s continued support to further the growth of education in the State.
