The office of the District Medical and Health Officer, District Health Society, in North Garo Hills today celebrated the 10th anniversary of Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) in the state.
The RBSK screens children from 0 to 18 years for the “4 Ds” – defects at birth, diseases, deficiencies and development delays, including disabilities. Children diagnosed with illnesses receive follow-up care, including surgeries at government and private hospitals free of cost under the National Health Mission.
Speaking at today’s programme as the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner AK Singh lauded the Health Department and other stakeholders for the successful completion of 10 years of RBSK in the state.
Four lakh children across Garo Hills have been screened and received medical intervention under RBSK.
State RBSK consultant, Johnson Nongbet, highlighted the activities of RBSK and the DMHO, Dr S Boro, provided an overview of the health activities being undertaken by the office in the district.
Village health council members, grassroot health workers, teachers and principals from various schools and officials of other line departments attended the programme.
