The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has termed the MDA 2.0 Government as a living example of “power corrupts”.
Spokesperson of the VPP Batskhem Myrboh on Saturday told Highland Post that they have plans to take the Lokayukta issue forward.
“We have made our plans for how to take this lokayukta issue forward which we will reveal in due course of time. As of now, we are reaching to the people in different parts of the state to enlighten the people on high handedness of the MDA government and their direct disregard of the Constitution and law,” he said.
He lambasted the government by saying that the MDA is a living example of “power corrupts” and “absolute power corrupts absolutely”.
Stating that the MDA aims to have absolute power to make it possible to corrupt absolutely, he said, “Their removal of the three Lokayukta officials clearly shows that they are moving to that situation of absolute power. Their goal is to remove anyone who obstructs them.”
“We are also enlightening the people of the state on the mischievous schemes of the government to indulge in corruption,” Myrboh added.
The VPP have been crying foul over the “illegal sacking” of the three Lokayukta officers.
The VPP had even hit the streets demanding the reinstatement of the three officials but later suspended its stir following an assurance from the state government to hold a dialogue between the VPP representatives and Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on the issue.
The three sacked Lokayukta officials include – previous Director of Inquiry and Prosecution, J Rymmai. The other two officials removed from the Lokayukta’s office were Anil K Sangma and R Pde, both enquiry-cum-investgating officers.
