‘Here We Play’, the anthem to the upcoming 5th Meghalaya Games, was released today.
The song is a collaboration between Shillong-based Summersalt and Tura’s NOKPANTE and combines lyrics in English, Khasi, Garo and Pnar.
The Games will begin on January 15 and this will be the first time that they have been held outside Shillong.
In a press release, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma was quoted as praising the song, although it was referred to incorrectly as ‘Here We Go’.
The lyrics were written by Summersalt’s Kit Shangpliang and NOKPANTE’s Mikhael Marak. The orchestration was led by Augustine Kurbah.
More than 3,000 athletes are expected to take part in the Meghalaya Games this year, which will feature nearly 20 disciplines.
