The Meghalaya Energy Corporation Ltd (MeECL) has made purchase arrangements to ensure that the state will not face load shedding during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
This was stated by MeECL Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Goyal today.
During peak times, the state-owned utility anticipates the average daily requirement to touch around 400MW. “We have agreements to take energy from other sources as well as from our own generation. The Umiam Lake reservoir water level is quite comfortable, so I don’t think there will be any power shortage during the festive season,” Goyal said.
