The Meghalaya PRISONS mobile app was declared a winner at the 8th eNorth East Awards 2023 in Guwahati last month.
Meghalaya won several awards at the event but the news has arrived piecemeal.
The app has been implemented by the Prisons and Correctional Homes in collaboration with National Informatics Centre, and won an award in the category of digital tech for government and citizens engagement.
ePrisons is a suite of applications that covers the entire workflow of a prisoner and all other prison-related activities. ePrisons is divided into three parts: e-Prison Management Information System (MIS) – used for the prisons day to day activities; National Prisons Information Portal – a citizen centric portal and dashboard providing statistical data to all stakeholders;
Kara Bazaar Portal – showcases jail inmates’ products from prisons across the country.
