A field day for farmers was organised by the Central Silk Board, Rompara, today in North Garo Hills.
Scientists present included K Indirakumar, Vikram Kumar and Saicharan, with senior technical assistants KD Sangma and Davinson Marak also present.
Around 60 people from the district took part. They were told about the positive aspects of muga or eri rearing and how it is important for social and cultural upliftment. They were also told about how lab research is making its way into the fields to benefit sericulture farmers. There was also a healthy discussion between the scientists and farmers.
