The Federation of Khasi Jaiñtia and Garo People (FKJGP) has raised concerns over haphazard loading and unloading of goods by trucks along the road in Ladrymbai that has led to traffic congestion and inconvenienced commuters and pedestrians.
According to the organisation goods trucks are parked along the main road leaving little space for regular traffic to flow smoothly.
FKJGP president Michal Chyrmang said last year the organisation had written to the East Jaiñtia Hills Deputy Commissioner and a meeting was also held with the waheh shnong in this regard. However, unloading and offloading of goods by commercial trucks has again resurfaced, he added.
Chyrmang has urged the district administration to regulate timings for such activities preferably only from 8 pm to 7 am.
