The Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) are yet to take any decision on whether to withdraw their strike.
Following a meeting with Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh along with senior Health Department officials here today, the Meghalaya ASHA Workers’ Union (MAWU) President Mary June Myrsing said the union will communicate their final decision to accept the offer of not.
“We told the Health Minister that we cannot take any decision immediately since we have around 270 executive members and sought time to discuss the matter. We will give our final decision and inform through WhatsApp,” she added.
She further said that the ASHA members told the Minister that the proposal made by the government should be given to them in writing because anything verbal is forgotten.
“We the Meghalaya ASHA Workers Union cannot give any assurance to withdraw our strike without seeing the minutes of the meeting,” Myrsing said.
