One person died and three of his travelling companions were injured after the vehicle they were driving plunged off the road and down into a steep ravine.
It was at around 12:30pm on September 16 that Nongstoin police were informed of the incident at Sohwanthiang.
The car (ML 05 A 8768) was travelling from Pamphyrnai to Tiehsaw.
The four people inside the vehicle were identified as Referless Thongni of Mawkohiaw Nongkhlaw, Oblanding Syiemlieh of Dihwah Shatmoit, Rahul Sangma of Goalpara in Assam and Donborlang Thongni of Tiehsawkhyllem.
They were taken for treatment first to Markasa community health centre before being referred to Shillong Civil Hospital. However, Sangma died there of his severe injuries.
