The State government has constituted a Scrutiny Committee to examine applications for government medical quota seats.
The State had recently released the list of selected candidates for MBBS course in various medical colleges under the State quota, which was objected by pressure groups as only three tribal names made it under the open category.
Doubts were raised on the selection of 11 non-tribal candidates that they are residents of Assam. It is suspected that documents were availed from Ampati in South Garo Hills district by these candidates.
Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh told reporters today that the committee will be supervised by the Law department and those applicants who got through the fair process will be allotted seats immediately while those with doubts will be examined by the committee.
Reacting to the alleged injustice meted out to the Garo nurses in recruitment for Mid-Level Health Providers in the State, Lyngdoh said that advertisement was published and those who applied were accommodated accordingly.
State BJP Vice President Bernard N Marak had written to Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Mansukh L Mandaviya stating that eligible Garo nurses were deprived of their rightful place by the policies and non-transparent method adopted by the authorities.
However, the Health Minister said the government has decided to hold a walk in interview on September 6 in Garo Hills
She also informed that the government will ensure that there is a six-month training programme across the state to attend the requirements at the sub centres.
