An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 on the Richter scale hit Meghalaya at 8.19 pm.
The epicentre was Bangladesh, as per the Nationals Centre for Seismology (NCS). The earthquake occurred at a depth of 16 km.
Taking to X (formally known as Twitter), the seismology centre wrote, “Earthquake of Magnitude: 5.4, Occurred on 14-08-2023, 20:19:47 IST, Lat: 25.02 & Long: 92.13, Depth: 16 Km, Location: 49km SE of Cherrapunjee, Meghalaya.
Yesterday the state experienced an earthquake of 3.7 magnitude which struck 78 km from Tura at 1:27pm.
