The violence in Manipur has had a spill over effect in the State as police have bound down 16 persons under section 107 CrPC for trouble mongering.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger said the violence in Manipur has had a spill over effect in Shillong as two persons of one community manhandled another.
He said a group fight took place at around 5: 30 pm in Nongrim Hills near Mizo Modern School, where police from Laitumkhrah PS had to rush to take stock of the situation.
“To prevent the situation from getting aggravated, EKH police has apprehended and bound down 16 persons under Section 107 CrPC of both the communities for fomenting trouble,” he said, adding, “Stringent measures will be taken on those wanting to vitiate the peace in the city.”
