The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has instituted an award called the Jeevan Raksha Padak Series of Awards 2023 for meritorious acts in saving the life of a person in incidents such as drowning, accidents, fire incidents, electrocution, landslides, animal attack and rescue operation in mines, etc.
The awards are given in three categories: Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak, Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak and Jeevan Raksha Padak.
