Deputy Commissioners of five different districts have been shuffled around by the state government, with East Khasi Hills and West Garo Hills among those affected.
RM Kurbah is the new East Khasi Hills DC, replacing SC Sadhu, who only took over from Isawanda Laloo in January. Sadhu has been transferred and posted as Director of the Community and Rural Development Department. He will also function as Secretary of the same department as well as the Fisheries and Water Resources Departments. Kurbah was most recently Secretary in the Health and Family Welfare Department, Director of School Education and Literacy and State Project Director of SSA (SEMAM). Before that, she was the DC of Ri-Bhoi.
Swapnil Tembe has been transferred away from the DC’s office in West Garo Hills and will now be the Joint Secretary in the Education Department and Director of School Education and Literacy and Special Project Director of SSA. He will be replaced as DC by Jagdish Chelani, who has been until this point the DC of East Garo Hills.
The new DC of East Garo Hills will be Vibhor Agarwal, who was the Deputy Secretary in the Sports and Youth Affairs Department.
Wilfred Nongsiej, the DC of Eastern West Khasi Hills has been transferred and posted as Secretary of the Prisons and Correctional Services Department. Nongsiej will be replaced in Mairang by G Kharmawphlang, who was until this point the DC of South West Garo Hills.
However, the government notification that laid these changes out did not mention who will be the new DC of South West Garo Hills.
