Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal continued his tirade against the NPP and the Congress and said that the two parties were experts in the twin evils of nepotism and rampant corruption.
He was addressing poll rallies at Tikrikilla and Jonglapara to campaign for four party candidates – Rahinath Barchung contesting from the Tikrikilla seat, Benedict Marak from Raksamgre, Sukharam K. Sangma from Resubelpara and Sengnab Ch. Momin from Mendipathar.
“The people of Meghalaya were ripped off from development and progress by the twin evils of nepotism and rampant corruption. The NPP government and previous Congress government were both corrupt and nepotistic. You have seen how the Congress and NPP have repeatedly deceived people and deprived them of the fruits of progress and development,” Sonowal said.
“BJP has been working diligently to wipe out corruption from our lives and empowering talent to make nepotism irrelevant. BJP is the only alternative to weed out these twin evils from Meghalaya,” he added.
The Union minister said that these twin evils once dominated the national narrative but due to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his welfare schemes for the betterment of society and empowerment of people, “those, who live by these twin evils, have become peripheral”.
He also said that North East India has claimed its long-aspired stand under Prime Minister Modi as it is ready to become the engine of progress for India.
“Meghalaya is an important State where people deserve to be part of this historic moment and bring progress and prosperity to their State. By voting BJP to the government in Meghalaya, the non-stop development of the Modi government will amp up opportunities in the State and serve the aspirations of the people,” Sonowal said.
