The regional boundary committee for Ri-Bhoi district headed by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong today met at the conference hall of the DC’s office in Nongpoh to discuss on the second phase of boundary settlement in the remaining four areas of differences in Ri-Bhoi district.
It may be noted that there are four remaining areas of differences in Ri Bhoi that need to be settled in the second phase of boundary settlement between Assam and Meghalaya.
During today’s meeting, the regional committee discussed only the two areas of differences – Block-II which falls under Hima Khyrim Syiemship and Deshdoomreah which falls under Hima Mylliem Syiemship.
The matter related to the two remaining areas which included Nongwah Mawtamur and Borduar will be examined and discussed in the coming days.
This meeting was attended by Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem, Jirang MLA Sosthenes Sohtun, Mawhati MLA Dasakhiatbha Lamare, representatives from KHADC, Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Arpit Upadhayay, Superintendent of Police Giri Prasad and traditional heads from Hima Mylliem and Hima Khyrim.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Tynsong said that the main purpose of the meeting is to discuss thoroughly with the traditional heads before the commencement of the second phase of border settlement along the interstate border dispute between Assam and Meghalaya.
“As of now we are trying to collect land documents and other supporting documents to support our stand in the second phase of border settlement with Assam,” Tynsong said.
