Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) Rakesh Sinha has drawn the attention of Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on the delay in the Kongthong-Sder road project.
In a letter to Sangma, Sinha said after the initial survey for the project, there was “no substantive progress”.
Besides Kongthong, which was adopted in 2020, Sinha has adopted Sder, Mawmang and Mawsohmad villages in East Khasi Hills to pursue his developmental initiatives.
Sinha said that he visited Mawmang on foot and it took him two hours to and fro. “I made representation for construction of a road between Kongthong to Sder. I thank you for accepting this demand,” he said, adding that during Sangma’s Delhi visit, he had promised that work would start soon.
Sinha urged the state government to implement the project keeping in mind the plight of the local residents.
