In a major drug bust in the State, Ri-Bhoi district police seized heroin worth Rs 1 crore from a vehicle in Byrnihat, Ri-Bhoi district yesterday night.
Three persons, including two women, have also been arrested in connection with the seizure.
The three arrested persons hail from Nagaland and Manipur. Three mobile phones were also seized from them.
Confirming this, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today tweeted that the drug bust followed “a well-synchronised day-long operation”.
He also said that the three arrested persons were “notorious drug traffickers of Nagaland and Manipur”.
It may be mentioned that Ri-Bhoi police in March 2021 nabbed a drug peddler at Pahammawlein village and also seized a huge consignment of heroin worth around Rs 3.50 crore from him.
The drug peddler identified as Jamgoulen Hoakip, hailed from Manipur.
On July 27 this year, Ri-Bhoi district police arrested two key members of an inter-state drug trafficking gang and seized ten packets of heroin worth Rs 75 lakh.
