The Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) has decided to go ahead with its planned protest against setting up of a casino in the State until the government comes up with a notification to cancel the decision.
Notwithstanding the statement made by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to the media today that the government will not go ahead with setting up of casino, HITO president Donbok Dkhar said the people of the state does not trust what he says.
“We want the government to come up with a notification to cancel the plan and it should be in the public domain,” Dkhar said, adding, “Until then we will go ahead with our protest on September 22.”
He said that the government lied to the church leaders, the organisations and the people by stating that the plan to set up casino has been scrapped.
“It may be reminded that Conrad had said that the state will be exempted for the CAA, but it was his sister, Agatha Sangma who supported it in the Parliament. This government continues to lie to the people,” he said.
